Let's say at this point a bit of experimentation hasn't scared you away from anal activity. In fact, you want to continue, but how do you proceed? Will there always be pain? Does anal play hurt my body? How do I deal with the "dirty business?" These are some of the most common questions when starting to use dildos. The Gape-O-Meter progression chart above shows several sizes of dildo luv, some you may find a bit shocking, but they are attainable. "But HOW?" you ask. Remember on our HOME page, SLOW means GO? That pertains to every aspect of anal and vaginal play with dildos. A person who has achieved the largest dildo size on this chart, has likely been a dildo practitioner for several years. Increases should happen gradually with time. Only then would you fully reap the very positive and pleasurable rewards of EXTREME dildo play – anal or vaginal. But once you experience a bit of dildo nirvana at any level, you'll have realized a whole new world of sex that goes undiscovered by the closed-minded or unadventurous.
First of all, if you feel that "lightning" pain, as it's commonly referred to, it's telling you that you've gone too fast. SLOW DOWN! Go easy. Lube up generously (more on this later) and push in SLOW. Depending on the individual, the smallest size from the chart usually will not require any warm-up, just SLOW entry to avoid that scary pain. But any "BIG COCK" dildo or larger may require several warm-up insertions, a little deeper each time, before it can be fully inserted.
Anatomy FACT: The anal sphincter consists of three bands of muscle at the opening of the rectum. See their lengthy names under the drop-down menu DILDO SPECIFICS > dildo luv Lingo.
These bands, or rings, are muscles like any other part of your body. When you do a proper physical work-out, what do you do first? You warm-up! Same principle. You gotta get them rings relaxed so they don't stay clamped closed! Except in this case it's not so much getting the blood flow going with oxygenation. Rather, a warm-up of gradual stretching – thus, the SLOW insertion at first. After a few minutes of gradual inserting, or actual anal stretching for the larger sizes (see the drop-down menu > dildo luv TIPS and read ADVANCED TIPS), any pain will quickly dissipate, giving way to more smooth and pleasurable sensations. And it will ALWAYS work this way. The warm-up time will gradually decrease as you train your ass to accept your toy on a more regular basis – again, much like a physical work-out. So, TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN. Train away the pain.
As for the durability of your anus and body? Oh, it's very durable and stretchable. Unless you're just being stupid, chances that you will rip or physically hurt yourself are slim to none. As for the depth you'll be able to penetrate? Expect only 6 or 7 inches for a good while. That's the average depth and stretching capacity of the rectum. And that pinch-like poke you'll feel up inside your body is your dildo tip "hitting the wall" before breaching the sigmoid colon. We'll learn how to get past, or better, enter that barrier in Getting past "the wall", also within the dildo luv TIPS page.

Both. Thickness is the common phallic term for DIAMETER (Dia.), the measurement across a dildo shaft from edge to edge. This is also the numerical measurement shown in the Gape-O-Meter progression chart illustrated above. Girth is the common phallic term for CIRCUMFERENCE, the measurement around the dildo shaft. For example: "Damn, that thing feels THICK!" or "I can't get my fingers around its incredible GIRTH!" See how that works? Dildo packaging will use both terms, but not always together. Thickness (Dia.) is the easiest thing to "see", so you often find these numbers used the most. Girth sounds bigger because it's a larger numerical value, so some companies prefer to use it. But don't let them confuse you as they are the same, e.g.: a 1.5" Dia. dildo (1-1/2 inches thick) is the same as a 4.25" Girth dildo (4-1/4 inches around).
There's no doubt, you will come across a bit of what nature intended from the anus. However, there are ways to prepare that will help you avoid mother nature or embarrassing moments of expulsion. You will learn as you progress, the best way to prepare for the level of play that you choose to engage; but for the sake of this conversation, let's assume you want a serious night of nothing but good, clean, anal fun.
FIRST: Plan Ahead – start eating much less at least 24 hrs before your session and completely fast a couple mealtimes or 6 to 8 hours just before. You will not have fun on a full stomach. You can always eat later. But ALWAYS drink and stay hydrated. Especially water as it will also help clean the pipes.
SECOND: Douche Yourself – at least a half-hour before or right up to the activities. Clean out using a large enema bulb at the very least, and keep cleaning until things start coming out consistently clear. This may take 15 minutes to a half hour with an enema bulb. But the most ideal way to clean yourself out for a longer time span of enjoyment is to buy a "shower wand" that directly hooks up to your shower. Just be ready to get on that toilet shortly after a slight GENTLE fill-up! Either way, your body will tell you when it's time to do so in just moments. Always use lube so you're not sore before the fun begins. And don't be surprised (or scared) about some of the interesting new intestinal sensations you'll experience from douching. Many will eventually consider this process a form of anal foreplay as the surges felt during induced expulsion can be quite orgasmic. This leads us to our next and most important point...
Especially with all aspects of anal play, never forget this very important rule, exercising CAUTION and common sense. In fact, your body will remind you. If something becomes painful – not weird or a little strange, but painful – IMMEDIATELY STOP what you're doing until it subsides and you are certain it has passed (Note: a very slight show of blood mixed in with the lube is not unusual from the sloughing contact against the walls of your rectum and intestines). Then think it through before you continue, or wait and try another day. Lack of knowledge is usually the biggest cause of fear. Investigate further if you are concerned about anything. Making objects disappear up your booty can sometimes seem impossible or even magical, but it is very real. Brushing up on a little anatomy of the area always helps to understand how your body works. We help you with this understanding under the drop-down menu PROGRESSIONS OF DILDO LUV > dildo luv Levels / Time.
